Once a case is filed, moving documents starts to look like something. Doing it early is unremarkable housekeeping, and it is also when you still have calm access to a filing cabinet, a safe and a shared drawer.
This is not about getting ahead of anyone. It is about not having to hunt for a deed while also managing the hardest year of your life.
What matters
- Originals first: the agreement, the deeds, the titles, the will.
- Anything premarital, with whatever proves when you acquired it.
- A written list of what exists and where, even for the things you leave at home.
- If you share a cloud account, assume the other person can read it.
